"Pong of Shame" Site Launches
Have you ever skunked anyone (11-0) in a
game? Or have you been skunked?
http://www.pongofshame.com can
track it all! Check out the embarrassing results online!
Looking for a place to play
table tennis (or ping pong)?
The Northern Kentucky Table Tennis club
welcomes players of all ages (especially kids)! The club is open
Saturdays from 4 to 9 PM and Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 10 PM. The
cost is only $4 per person (or $6 for two people) for the whole day.
The club practices at Newport Middle School's Gymnasium, located on the
corner of Columbia & W. 9th Street. (Use 80 W. 9th Street, Newport, KY
41071 if searching on Google Maps). There is a large school parking lot
next to the building, so parking is free. Use the Gym entrance closest
to the parking lot.
The club features two to three dozen players each night spanning the
entire range of skill levels, including the top players in the entire
Greater Cincinnati area. And if you need training, State Coach George
Thompson is available for a very reasonable fee if you need help beyond
the basics (the basics are free!).
If you have questions about the club, please call George Thompson at
859-635-2833.
Boz Gosto Memorial
Tournament
Northern Kentucky is
hosting a memorial tournament for our friend Adnan "Boz"
Gosto on Saturday, August 1, 2009. The tournament will
be doubles and handicap events, so no rating points will be
at stake. EVERY dollar raised by the tournament will
go to Boz's family. His son and daughter will also be
playing in the tournament. We will also hold a silent
auction for some of Boz's table tennis equipment, including
paddles, rubber, and his famous Butterfly shirt.
The NKYTT Robo-Pong May
2009 Open was a smashing success with almost 100 players and
over $3000 in prize money awarded over two days. Joey
Cochran was the big winner of the Open in a tight 3-2
victory over Robert Luo.
